Gas Shortage Sweeping Bluefield Region After Major Pipeline Explosion

The same pipeline that leaked back in September, which caused many Bluefield area gas stations to completely run out of gas, just exploded into a towering inferno.

Flames from the explosion reached over 150 feet into the air yesterday.

Due to the explosion, the pipeline is shut down until repairs can be made. The company anticipates the main line will be closed for at least the rest of this week.

charlotte-gas-shortage3AAA released a statement today, telling motorists to expect higher prices and widespread shortages.

“If September’s shutdown was any indicator of what we should expect, prices are definitely going to spike at the pump,” said Tiffany Wright, public relations manager for AAA.

Drivers throughout the greater Bluefield region are already experiencing spiking prices and “out of service” bags covering gas pumps.
