Whether they want to admit it or not, most people love cuddling with heavier-set people, it seems we were wired with a deep desire to be cushioned by fat.
UK artist Gigi Barker decided to take this desire to a whole new level. She has just released a new line of furniture that looks, feels, and smells like human skin (with plenty of ‘cushion’ underneath’).
The artist used a mixture of silicon, human pheromones, and aftershave to create the top layer, or ‘skin’. Her creation is now on view at Studio 9191 in London, including a chair that’s meant to mimic a squishy roll of fat and footstools that resemble deformed testes.
If you’re itching to take one of these home and experience the feeling of sitting on a giant deformed testicle footstool or a fat-rolls chair, they don’t come cheap. The testi-stool runs about $775 and the fat chair will run you close to $2,550.
In case you were wondering, this was the inspiration for the chair;
Gigi Baker believes that when your skin comes into contact with these new chairs, a deep bond is formed that questions the level of comfort you have in your own skin.
She also believes synthetic skin makes a good blanket;
