A shocking incident at Eisenhower Exceptional Center has left the community reeling, as a Hillsborough County teacher faces arrest for allegedly punching a nine-year-old student with autism. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the troubling incident.
Prechae Rodriguez, a 39-year-old Behavior Support Teacher at the center, was arrested on Monday following accusations of abusing a non-verbal student with autism.
The incident, detailed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, occurred on February 8th. The child struck Rodriguez, who then punched them, causing a fall. Rodriguez now faces one count of child abuse, as confirmed by HCSO.
Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed outrage, condemning the teacher’s actions, stressing zero tolerance for violence against children, especially by authority figures. He vowed to ensure the protection of all students, highlighting the ongoing investigation as a crucial step towards accountability.
