Ahoy, me hearties! Gasparilla 2024 has come to an end, leaving behind a trail of beads, booty, and a few untoward incidents. The pirates descended upon Tampa with their Jose Gasparilla ship, turning Bayshore Boulevard into a spectacle of buccaneer revelry.
The invasion kicked off with the grand arrival of the Jose Gasparilla ship, leading a fleet of smaller vessels into Tampa Bay and ultimately docking at the Tampa Convention Center. Buccaneers disembarked, demanding Mayor Jane Castor surrender the city’s key to the heroic captain of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. With the key in hand, a victorious parade unfolded down Bayshore Boulevard, with around 140 floats, Krewes, and marching bands marching along the 4.5-mile parade route.
