Clearwater’s early risers were startled on Sunday as a 22-year-old woman’s car careened out of control, crashing into a dental office and a nearby restaurant.

At around 6:43 a.m. on Sunday’s morning, Trejo’s 2010 Hyundai Sonata, seemingly with a mind of its own, veered across the median, traversed the eastbound lanes, and, in a dramatic twist, crashed through the front door of Greenberg Dental before coming to a halt inside Skyline Chili next door.

While the early morning crash left the strip shopping center with a story to tell, it also prompted city workers to ensure the building’s front was secure.

Clearwater residents buzzed about the unusual wake-up call, expressing relief that this unexpected automotive detour didn’t harm anyone.

As the sun rose over the bay, the city grappled with the aftermath of a DUI-fueled escapade that turned a typical Sunday morning into anything but routine.
