Visit Savannah has just released the latest tourism numbers, and they are surprisingly upbeat. We have been seeing a huge increase in both domestic and international traveler spending as compared to last year.
Last year we saw over 13 million people visit our city – one of the biggest numbers we have ever seen. The majority of visitors came from nearby Jacksonville, Orlando, and the Greenville-Spartanburg area, but we also saw a huge increase in international travelers.
Business travel was also up, and combined with increased leisure, it’s a powerful sign of a healthy long-term tourism market.
Savannah also saw over $2.2 billion in spending last year, which amounts to about $125 per person per day, spending almost 30 percent of that on food.
What do you think about the growing tourism market in Savannah?
