An escaped ape is currently at large in the Charleston area, prompting authorities to issue an urgent alert. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office announced via social media that they are actively addressing the situation.
The loose primate was last seen wandering around Mallard Street in Walterboro, just north of Charleston. Authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any sightings of the ape immediately.

Several low country animal control divisions has joined forces in the search operation of locating the escaped animal. The ape’s owner is working closely with authorities to secure its capture.
