A new study has revealed the states with the most fatal vehicle crashes involving speeding, with Rhode Island taking the top spot.
The data was analyzed from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reporting on the number of fatal crashes per state between 2017-2021 and the number where speeding was primarily responsible.

Rhode Island ranks at the top as the state with the most speeding fatalities, with 46.01% of all fatal crashes being a result of speeding offenses. The state experienced 313 fatal crashes in the five years, with 144 reported as speeding related.
Coming in second is Hawaii. The state had 483 fatal crashes, with 216 of them being a result of speeding drivers; that equates to 44.72% of all confirmed fatalities from cases where speed was the primary fault.
Third in the ranking is South Carolina, with 43.23% of all fatal crashes being related to speeding. South Carolina also ranks third amongst the top ten states for the most crashes, 4,897 to be precise; 2,117 of this number involved speeding.
