Almost 30 years after Tom Cruise captivated audiences as the Navy fighter pilot in “Top Gun,” his character is slated to return for a sequel. But will the star be back, too?
“There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no ‘Top Gun’ without Maverick — and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick,” Producer David Ellison remarked in a recent press conference in Berlin.
The new movie will reflect the new military culture our world is currently in. The days of crazy dogfighting are mostly over and “Top Gun 2” will certainly reflect that. It is very much a world we live in today, where it’s drone technology, laser guided guns, and virtual headsets with brain-wave monitoring.
It seems the new Top Gun movie will stay true to it’s roots, while also implementing a technological upgrade.
