#10 You’ve been through crap
Remember the things you thought you’d never get through? Well, you made it through, and now you’re stronger! If you were to face similar struggles today, they wouldn’t seem nearly as life-threatening. Life may not get easier, but every trial you overcome makes you stronger and smarter.
#9 You Have Space
You might not have your own home or apartment, but you do have your own room, corner, closet, or secluded spot. Believe it or not, there are many people in Hong Kong, India, and other highly populated regions of the world with no personal space, no where to be alone, ever.
#8 You paid your bills this month
It doesn’t matter how much you cried over the checks when you put them in the mail, the point is that they did, and you figured it out regardless.
#7 You have free time
Do you have a few minutes each day to do something you enjoy, even if that’s sitting on the couch with Netflix, or practicing your juggling skills?
#6 You have a goal (at least one)
Success comes from pursuing goals. Failure comes from stopping. If you have goals, and you’re doing something to pursue them, you’re on the path to success.
#5 You’re not worried about your next meal
You have food in your house, and you might even have enough to pick and choose what you want to eat later today.
#4 You have a close friend
The number of friends we may have really has no bearing on how much we feel intimacy, acceptance, community, or joy. At the end of the day, if we have at least one other person who knows us, loves us, and has our back, we can be content.
#3 You can afford a cup of coffee
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that can be the most rewarding. Never overlook these small moments of joy.
#2 You have at least 1 shirt
You have a coat for the winter, and separate clothes for the summer. You are able to not only keep yourself covered and warm, but you also have the luxury of changing colors and styles.
#1 You have modern conveniences
Do you have a machine that keeps food frozen? Does heated water come out of a pipe in the wall when you turn a handle? Do you have a device in your pocket that’s connected to satellites in space that allows you to instantly communicate with another person on the other side of the world?
