Charleston Man Continues To Be Arrested Again and Again After Numerous Bond Releases

Deon Lathel Gibson, 38, facing ongoing charges for a 2020 hit and run that resulted in two fatalities, has been arrested again in December 2023 on new, serious charges. This is his third arrest since the 2020 incident.

Gibson was initially arrested for a hit and run on I-26 that killed Lance Davis and Brittany Reeves. Released on bond, he was re-arrested in February 2022 on drug charges and again released.

In December 2023, during a traffic stop, Charleston Police found Gibson in possession of methamphetamine and a firearm, leading to charges including assault and battery, drug trafficking, and illegal firearm possession due to his prior felony record.

Gibson’s bond was denied following this latest arrest, and he remains in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
