A significant storm system is sweeping through the low country, prompting the issuance of a flash flood warning for Charleston and Berkeley Counties on Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service reports that Downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant will experience heavy rainfalls today, leading to numerous road closures in Charleston.

Authorities advise against driving in flooded areas. Alongside the heavy rain and potential flooding, a Wind Advisory will be active for the Lowcountry area from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Officials recommend having the following items handy in case of a power outage;
- Cash (ATMs may not work)
- Car charger for cell phones and other devices
- Clean drinking water (recommended 1 gallon per person per day, minimum three days)
- Flashlights
- Batteries: Extra batteries for all of your devices
- Weather radio/clock
- Non-perishable food
- First aid kit
