A 65-year-old man was bitten by a shark this past weekend while spearfishing off Charleston Harbor, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. After the incident, he managed to get back to his boat, where a crew member quickly applied a tourniquet to his wound.
The boat returned to Charleston Harbor, where it was met by the harbor police and the Coast Guard Station Charleston, as stated by Petty Officer Vincent Moreno. Upon their arrival, authorities inspected the wound, which had ceased bleeding.
The man was subsequently transported to the Medical University of South Carolina for further treatment by emergency medical services.
