Charleston’s Cold Weather Refuge: Warming Centers Open This Week

Charleston city officials have declared the opening of two warming centers this week to offer refuge from the chilly weather for those in need.

The warming centers, operated by Holy City Missions at Aldersgate UMC and Seacoast Church in Summerville, will welcome individuals and families on Tuesday, February 6, and Wednesday, February 7. However, pets will not be accommodated at these locations.

Located at 1444 Remount Road in North Charleston, the Holy City Missions at Aldersgate UMC Warming Center will open its doors for admission between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Transportation to this center is facilitated by CARTA via Route 13, with drop-off and pick-up points at Remount Road and Allison Avenue. The Seacoast Summerville Warming Center, situated at 301 E N 5th St. in Summerville, also invites guests between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tricounty Link will provide complimentary weekday transportation to and from the center along its regular routes.
