Tragedy struck in Sebring on Saturday, May 11th, as the Sebring Fire Department responded to a boating incident on Lake Jackson, sparking a search for a missing boater. Amidst ongoing firefighting efforts, resources were quickly redirected to Station 15 to deploy Boat 15 at Veterans Beach Boat Ramp.

Preliminary investigations revealed that 22-year-old Mr. Gutierrez-Gomez from Hardee County went overboard while attempting to retrieve his hat from the lake, failing to resurface. Despite nearly 36 hours of intensive search and recovery efforts, first responders tragically recovered Mr. Gutierrez-Gomez’s lifeless body.
