A new report places Charleston near the top among 180 markets for people seeking summer jobs.

On Tuesday, the personal finance website WalletHub released its picks for the 20 best cities for summer jobs, ranking Charleston in eighth place. WalletHub compared these markets across 21 key metrics, including median income of part-time workers, availability of summer jobs, and commuter-friendliness.

Notably, Charleston is the only city in South Carolina to make the top 20 list.

The report highlighted that Charleston ranked fourth in youth job availability but fell to 101st place in social environment and affordability.

In comparison, Columbia, Maryland, which topped the overall list, also secured first place in youth jobs and 33rd place in social environment and affordability. Meanwhile, San Francisco excelled in social environment and affordability, ranking first, but dropped to 163rd place in youth job availability.
