A Metro Nashville teacher fatally shot his wife before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide in a Midtown condo, according to Nashville police.
Authorities identified the man as 46-year-old Steven Pierce, a biology teacher and tennis coach at Hunter’s Lane High School. He reportedly shot his 30-year-old wife, Amina Pierce, following an argument about divorce and finances.
Metro Nashville Police responded to the shooting around 8:30 a.m. on the 100 block of 31st Avenue North. Investigators recovered a revolver beneath Steven’s body.

Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed Pierce’s employment, describing him as a beloved educator and coach. Grief counselors have been made available to students and staff.
Police said the department’s domestic violence division had no previous reports or calls involving the couple.
The investigation remains ongoing.
