Augusta is preparing to welcome a huge influx of shoppers from all over the south east.  The new Outlet Mall of Georgia is a 800,000-square foot revolutionary outlet mall that will pull I-20 drivers from near and far.

The 70 acre mall on I-20 and Riverwatch Parkway is planned to go above 1 million square feet once combined with the existing Costco and Cabela’s locations and the Riverwatch Cinemas. The national outdoor retailer Gander Mountain is hoping to be the first to open its new doors this coming fall.

The new outlet mall will bring 300 jobs during construction and 1,500 when all the stores move in. They expect to open by Masters week 2016.

“We have 25 percent of the retail spaces in Phase I of the outlet mall under Letter of Intent and are working to convert those to leases, our business plans call for us to have 60 percent of the space in the outlet mall leased when we break ground.” commented Quito Anderson, the current CEO of Ben Carter Enterprises.

Do you think this will bring positive change to the Augusta region?
