Charleston area voters who missed early voting can cast their ballots in the primaries on Tuesday.
Polls will be open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. statewide.
Voters will choose candidates for Congressional races and local positions, including state lawmakers and sheriff races. You may vote in either the Republican or Democratic primary, but not both. If there’s a runoff, you must vote in the same party’s runoff.
The primaries are crucial, with all 170 legislative seats and many county positions up for grabs. Recent State House decisions on taxes, road funding, and gun training requirements highlight the importance of these elections.
Two incumbent U.S. House members, including Republican U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace of the First Congressional District, will closely watch the results. Mace, seeking a third term, now has the backing of former President Donald Trump. She asserts that her positions reflect the values of the 1st District, which spans from Charleston to Beaufort County.
