Officials from the South Carolina Department of Transportation, Governor Henry McMaster, and other state dignitaries just broke ground on a major overhaul of the interchange connecting interstates 26 and 95.

The redesign aims to streamline the interchange by realigning ramps for smoother transitions between the interstates. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Transportation Secretary Christy Hall outlined additional improvements included in the project, which carries a $240 million price tag.

This investment is supported by National Highway Performance Funds and state contributions. Governor McMaster underscored the project’s long-term benefits, projecting its positive impact on future generations. The construction is slated to start later in 2024 and is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
