Dinosaurs are now roaming the earth once again, now that “Jurassic World” is taking over movie theaters all around the world. The movie has already earned over $511 million, the biggest of all time and the first ever to make more than half a billion in a single weekend (the last Harry Potter was closest – $494).
That commanding number basically guarantees more DNA adjustments, and more prehistoric islands being discovered for at least a few more sequels.
Universal Pictures and Legendary Films initially spent an impressive $150 million to reopen the park, bringing on Colin Trevorrow to direct and landing Chris Pratt (highest grossing actor of 2014) to star in the sequel. It has been more than a decade since “Jurassic Park III” hit theaters and the absence appears to have spiked interest in the latest film.
The desire to see people get eaten by dinosaurs is universal, and as much as people expected Jurassic World to do well, not many expected it to do this well (many early predictions had it doing $120-150 million).
If you haven’t already seen the movie, here is the extended trailer;
