Richlands, VA native Bradley Strong has officially been drafted by the Chicago White Sox.
Strong was chosen in the 28th round by the Sox. He had a record breaking career at Richlands high school, after which he batted an average of .322 in his four-year career at Western Carolina.
At Western Carolina, he set a school record with 18 triples and 65 stolen bases. He won the Louisville Slugger All-America selection last season, as well as the All-America preseason season team honoree.
He is the first Richlands native to be drafted into the major leagues since since Ed Sparks was chosen in the 47th round in 2000.
