Miss South Carolina has just kicked off in Columbia, drawing contestants, families, and supporters from across the region.
The Miss SC Scholarship Organization, an official preliminary to Miss America, is one of the largest scholarship providers for young women. Candidates compete for over $200,000 in scholarships and complete thousands of hours of community service.
Operating under Miss America Organization guidelines, the Miss SC Scholarship Organization emphasizes individuality, personal development, communication skills, and physical and mental health.
The preliminary competition is tonight, followed by the talent portion on Friday for both divisions.
After these rounds, judges will decide who advances to Saturday night’s finale.
Miss South Carolina will be crowned on Saturday, June 29, at the Township Auditorium in Columbia.
