The Charleston area is about to welcome the first establishment in a popular new trend – a beer garden/gourmet hot dog eatery combo.
The former location of Amidst The Alders in downtown Beaufort is now undergoing renovations to become HopDog, a gourmet hot dog restaurant and beer garden. Owned by Alex Velasco of Lost Local, alongside his wife, Alison, and humorously credited to their 2-year-old daughter, Winter, HopDog aims for a March opening, though the timeline remains flexible.
Situated adjacent to Rain -N- Bagels, the concept for HopDog began taking shape in November. Recent developments at the site include the transformation of its outdoor space, where a tree has made way for pea gravel and posts outlining the future beer garden, promising patrons an inviting outdoor seating and bartop area. Inside, the establishment will feature additional seating and counter service.
Velasco plans to offer an extensive beverage selection, with 20 beers on tap and a full bar, complementing the gourmet hot dog menu. HopDog also aspires to be a hub for live music, ensuring the venue remains welcoming to families.
What do you think about the new concept?
