Qorvo building new research centerQorvo Co. (A $2.4 billion company) has just released final plans to build a new $25 million research and design center in Greensboro that will ad over 100 new jobs to the the Triad.

The mostly locally grown company makes components and semiconductors for the wireless-telephone industry and now employs over 1,400 people locally. Qorvo was considering two sites for expansion, one here and one in Oregon, they ended up picking Greensboro due to our vibrant population growth and perfect climate.

This news is a huge step toward Greensboro becoming the full headquarters city for Qorvo – they now operates dual headquarters here and in Oregon.

In order to finalize the deal, Greensboro offered the company a combined $875,000 in incentives, paid over five years, if the company meets all its promises. North Carolina also contributed a performance-based grant of up to $500,000 from the One North Carolina Fund.

The average salary of this new engineering workforce will be about $80,000 a year, nearly double the county average of $43,000.
