Fire crews from around the Charleston area are now battling a raging blaze at the Dorchester County Landfill.
According to the Dorchester County Fire Rescue, the fire broke out at the landfill situated on Harrison Road. Officials promptly shared images of the incident on social media shortly after 8:30 pm and has since spread to an area of at least 2 acres.
Collaborating closely, the Dorchester County Fire Rescue and units from the Berkeley County Fire Service are battling the extensive blaze at the landfill near Harrison Road. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area for safety reasons. Drivers using Highway 78 near Beidler Forest Road are advised to exercise caution due to the presence of firefighters and fire trucks in the vicinity.
