At a press conference in Cartagena, Colombian, the president confirmed that researchers, working with a “dream team” of international investigators, just found the Spanish treasure ship, named The San José on Nov. 27.

It’s now thought that the entire treasure on the ship could be worth anywhere from $4 billion to $17 billion, according to court records, including massive amounts of gold, silver and millions of Spanish pesos.

Historian Daniel de Narváez Mcallister commented that the San José is the Holy Grail for treasure hunters since it carried the accumulation of six years worth of gold and silver being sent back to Spain — making it the most valuable shipwreck in the Western Hemisphere.
