tybee island trailTybee Island City Manager Diane Schleicher wants to create “a millionaire view for the common man,” using an old railroad bed between the highway, and the salt marsh off US 80.

Now that state officials have signed the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act, they will be able re-purpose the trail into a world-class a bike and pedestrian path.

The entire trail will cover over linear mile of marshland and beach, using natural materials and an elevated boardwalk. The trail will include many signs that will detail natural and historical points of interest, as well as picnic tables, and other visitor facilities.

The cost for the project is now projected to be just over $420,000.
