Seacoast Church in Summerville is set to open its warming center this week due to the anticipated colder weather. The center offers a refuge for those without homes or sufficient heating, providing a cot with linens and a pillow, a warm dinner, and hot showers in the evening, along with a takeaway breakfast.

The Seacoast warming center is located at 301 E. 5th N. St., with entry from the Gum Street entrance. It will be open on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 28: 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 29: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. (heaters available outside before opening)
  • Thursday, Nov. 30: Hours to be announced later

For transportation, CARTA buses will make a special stop on weeknights and weekday mornings at the center, with a drop-off at the back door on Gum Street. Those traveling from Charleston to Summerville should inform their driver and transfer at Trident Hospital to catch the TriCounty Links buses.

TriCounty Links will also include additional stops near various encampments in Summerville and Ladson.

For any transportation queries, text TRANSPORT to 320320, or call 843-486-0193 and select the Warming Center option.
