bluefield wv waterMonroe County is about to make some historic improvements to its water system, including significant upgrades to a couple water tanks and installing several new water lines. The grant will also include the hiring of several new employees, including both labor and management level positions.

West Virginia’s Rep. Evan Jenkins can largely be credited with getting the grant pushed through from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

The water expansions will improve the county’s fire protection in a wider radius around Union, as well as enhancing the reliability of water delivery service.
