A major Charlotte developer has just submitted the plans to develop just over 72 acres off Providence Road in South Charlotte.
They will be building a major mixed-use community with residential units, a hotel and commercial space just south of highway 485.
If the plans are approved by the city of Charlotte, Crescent Communities will move forward with developing 30,000 square feet of commercial space; a hotel with 150 rooms; and 600 new homes.
Construction is about to start on the Waverly Development on the adjacent piece of land.
Waverly will include hundreds of homes and a massive new shopping center that will be anchored by a 40,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market.
It’s expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
Directly across the street, Lincoln Harris is also about to start construction on their new development, called ‘Rea Farms’, also a mixed-use development. It will include 700,000 square feet of office space, 250,000 square feet of retail space, 500 multifamily units, 300 senior-living units, 200 single-family homes, a recreational facility, a day-care facility and a new K-8 magnet school.
