New home permits in the greater Charleston region are now at their highest point since before the recession. In the first 4 months of 2024 about 1/4 of all home closings were new homes (1,100 out of the 4,700 closings).
The Charleston region is also leading job growth for the state of South Carolina. They have seen a 2.8% yearly job growth over the past five years.
One of the major job catalysts is the Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner assembly plant in North Charleston. Volvo Cars and Daimler also built a massive new $500 million auto plant which was a major contributor to job growth and new housing development in the region.
Charleston was also recently voted the #1 tourist destination in America, so things are only looking up for the future.
