What is the Skyway 10K?

Prepare your running shoes because the 7th annual Skyway 10K race is just around the corner! This iconic event spans 6.2 miles across the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge, attracting around 8,000 participants each year. Not just a race, this event serves a noble cause, with all funds raised from registrations going to support the Armed Forces Families Foundation.

Race Day Logistics

Meeting Point and Transportation

Racers should gather at Tropicana Field, where free parking is available. However, due to the large number of participants, street parking may be necessary if the main lot is full. Buses will then transport runners to the starting point in Manatee County. After completing the race, shuttles will return participants to Tropicana Field. Even if you’re not racing, Tropicana Field is the place to be for post-race festivities!

Schedule and Departure Times

Runners should check their scheduled bus departure time and aim to arrive at Tropicana Field at least an hour prior. There will be four waves of buses departing at different times, starting as early as 5:30 a.m. It’s crucial to stick to your assigned wave, as missing the bus means missing the race, with no refunds available. Race day celebrations at Tropicana Field will continue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bridge Closure Details

Plan your travel accordingly, as the northbound lanes of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will close at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, reopening at 11 a.m. While southbound lanes remain open, drivers are urged to drive safely and stay alert.

Pre-Race Expo and Packet Pick-Up

Get into the spirit of the event at the pre-race expo on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tropicana Field Parking Lot 1. This is where runners can collect their race packets, but don’t forget to bring a photo ID and bib number. If someone else is picking up your packet, ensure they have completed the necessary authorization form.

Important Reminders

As you gear up for the race, remember to adhere to certain guidelines. Water bottles should be clear and no larger than 24 ounces, with glass containers strictly prohibited. Throughout the course, water stations will be available to keep runners hydrated. Additionally, certain items such as selfie sticks, backpacks, and bicycles are not permitted on the course, while GoPro cameras are allowed when secured to a chest or head strap.

With these details in mind, get ready to lace up your shoes and conquer the Skyway 10K for a great cause!
