The new route, operated by Aeromexico, is scheduled to commence on July 1st, offering daily flights between the two cities. The flight from Mexico City will depart at 10:00 a.m. local time, arriving in Tampa around 3:20 p.m. The return flight from Tampa will leave at 4:45 p.m., with an anticipated arrival in Mexico City at 6:14 p.m. This addition to TPA’s roster of international routes signifies a significant step forward, marking the 23rd non-stop international destination from Tampa.
For Aeromexico, the Tampa route represents the airline’s 23rd destination in the U.S. and its third in Florida, joining Miami and Orlando as non-stop connections to Mexico. Joe Lopano highlighted the cultural and economic ties between Tampa Bay and Mexico, noting the region’s significant Mexican population, which stands at nearly 80,000, making it the second-largest foreign-born population in the area after Cuba.
With the introduction of the Tampa-Mexico City route, travelers can anticipate greater ease and convenience in exploring one of the region’s key international destinations. The addition underscores TPA’s commitment to expanding its global reach and fostering connections that enrich the Tampa Bay community.
