South Carolina gas prices have now dropped over 11 cents over the past week, currently averaging $3.13 per gallon in Charleston.
This significant decrease contrasts with the national average, which fell by 1.9 cents, averaging 3.47 cents per gallon. According to GasBuddy, which surveyed 3,028 stations in South Carolina, the cheapest gas was $2.82 per gallon, and the most expensive was $3.69. While South Carolina’s prices are 5.1 cents higher than a month ago, they are 15.9 cents lower than last year.
Nationally, prices have risen by 3.5 cents from a month ago but are 9.9 cents lower than a year ago. Diesel prices also fell to $3.79 per gallon, four cents lower than the previous week.
South Carolina has consistently maintained lower gas prices than the national average for the past decade.
