Gas prices in South Carolina have been in a somewhat freefall this past week, mirroring a national trend. According to the latest figures, the gas prices per gallon in the Charleston area is now $2.93 per gallon, according to GasBuddy, down from last week’s $3 per gallon threshold.
Price fluctuations within the state reveal a significant range, with the lowest price at $2.93 per gallon found at several stations in the Tri-County area near Charleston, and the highest recorded at $3.79 per gallon in some fancy areas around Greenville.
On a national level, the average price has increased by 8.4 cents over the past month, standing at 4.3 cents higher than the same period last year. The average price of diesel has also seen a decrease, now below $4, at $3.98 per gallon. This data is compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations across the country, sourced from GasBuddy.
