As of Wednesday, the district seeks to hire at least 250 bus drivers, emphasizing the need for qualified individuals who make a significant impact on children’s lives.

Selectivity for Child Safety

HCPS maintains stringent criteria for hiring, requiring applicants to:

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess five years of driving experience.
  • Maintain a clean record.
  • Undergo drug and alcohol screenings.
  • While a CDL license is necessary to begin, the district offers free training to obtain it.

In a bid to attract more applicants, HCPS recently increased starting wages to $18.65 per hour. The position also boasts benefits and a flexible schedule.
