Volvo has just broke ground on its first factory in North America – a $500 million facility about 30 miles northwest of Charleston.
Berkeley County had to fill in over 200 acres of wetlands in Ridgeville to build the massive new automotive factory.
As part of the deal with the county, Volvo has agreed to bring over 4,000 new jobs to the greater Charleston area.
