After over 15 years of planning, the Winding Woods Industrial Park in Dorchester County is nearing completion, promising to significantly boost job opportunities and product accessibility for the region. Situated in Saint George, the 1,300-acre park includes Port 95, a pivotal private development designed to host distribution and manufacturing centers for various companies.
Currently, construction is underway on the first two of three anticipated buildings within Port 95. The highlight is a colossal one million square foot building, poised to become one of the largest in the Charleston area and capable of accommodating between one to four companies. Additionally, a second building, spanning approximately 240,000 square feet, is being tailored for a single company. This ambitious $100 million project, entirely privately funded, broke ground in October 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of this quarter.
This development aligns with the Dorchester County Council’s strategic vision to stimulate employment and expand the tax base in historically stagnant areas of the county. However, it is projected that the facilities at Winding Woods Industrial Park will not be operational until 2025, marking a new chapter of economic growth for Dorchester County.
