Over the weekend, a hazmat incident near Westchase Drive in Charleston resulted in the evacuation of five families from their homes.
The American Red Cross reported that the hazmat incident rendered the homes uninhabitable for the affected families. In response, disaster-trained volunteers from the American Red Cross are providing crucial support to these families.

The Lowcountry Red Cross is giving out financial aid for necessities such as food, clothing, temporary lodging, and other essentials. Additionally, comfort kits containing personal hygiene items are being distributed to help alleviate the immediate impact of the displacement.
