The New Year is almost here and it’s time again for New Year resolutions. One Charleston doctor started a contest to help anyone with a resolution to quit smoking.
Dr. Michael Cummings, and a small army of health advocates and local business leaders are now offering smokers another incentive to quit smoking besides an improved life and saving money.
They are essentially offering to “bribe” local Charleston area smokers to quit the habit.
Adult smokers living or working in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties are now invited to participate in the free “Quit & Win” contest.
Those who don’t smoke during that time period will be eligible to win one of two cash prizes of $1,000. (Contestants will be subject to a breath test to confirm they really did stop smoking)
Anyone who wants to quit smoking can now register for the contest on www.SCQuits.com.
The contest will allow participants to use nicotine gums and patches, and is encouraging the use of instructional and inspriational videos to help retrain your brain.
