Louisville police officer Nathan Blanford was just attacked by a man with a spear-like flag pole, and was forced to open fire, according to Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad.
“The officer believed his life was being threatened,” Conrad remarked in this weekend’s news conference.
Officer Blanford was sent out to the Old Louisville neighborhood about 2 p.m. immediately after a 911 caller witnessed a brutal assault. The man in the video was seen grabbing and throwing a woman’s purse and cellphone on the street, then, the man reportedly punched her.
After the shooting, the man was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he later died.
Do you think Officer Blanford’s use of deadly force was unavoidable?
