Scientists have long theorized that oil drilling can have negative consequences on the earth’s crust, but now there is actual evidence;
This collaborative study was conducted by researchers from Columbia University’s Earth Institute, and a team from the US Geological Department. They found that the number of quakes has increased tenfold compared with just a few years ago.
Most oil drilling rig will pump large amounts of waste-water underground and store the water in injection wells. It will exert extra pressure along fault lines, increasing the frequency of quakes.
