The Mercer Mall has just started enforcing their new “Youth Escort Policy”, which requires any child under the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21, according to a press release.
“Mercer Mall is promoting a more family-friendly image and is instituting a Youth Escort Policy. The new policy isn’t meant to stop teenagers from enjoying the mall, but to promote responsible behavior,” commented Mercer Mall Security Director Barbara Reichard.
The Youth Escort Policy went into effect last night, and will now stay in effect seven days a week starting at 6 p.m.
The rule stipulates that all persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all time by an adult over the age of 21, and that no single adult can accompany more than 4 children at any 1 time.
Reichard noted that anyone who looks under-aged and who cannot provide their proof of age will be asked to leave the mall.
