Bakersfild is about to have one of the most advanced center for disabled people in the region. New Advances for People with Disabilities just broke ground on their new Center for Creative Achievement, a state-of-the-art 17,000-square-foot facility that will provide a creative learning environment for more than 180 adults with disabilities.
The massive new facility is now slated to open in the spring of 2016 and will allow for expansion of creative and performing arts activities.
The state-of-the-art “green” building will include gardening and outside recreation areas, and an indoor health and wellness center. Classes will include drama, art, music, computer literacy and cooking.
The theater and multipurpose room will have a fully equipped, raised stage for client productions.
NAPD provides adult day programs, after-school programs, and education programs to over 500 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the greater Bakersfield region on a daily basis.
