One of the largest solar farms in North Carolina’s history has just been approved. It will be built in Lincoln Co., just west of Lake Norman. The farm will encompass over 129-acres and will cost an estimated $50 million to build.
The new farm will produce 28 megawatts, enough energy to fully power about 3,500 homes per year. This clean energy will offset more than 1 billion total pounds of CO2 in our atmosphere.
Atood LLC, a Charlotte-based developer, is building the farm off of Mariposa Road. They project that the farm will last at least 50 years without needing major repairs and upgrades.
Do you think North Carolina should approve more of these solar farms?
