As his final term comes to a close, President Barack Obama has just announced plans to fly Air Force One into New Orleans on Aug. 27 to commemorate the historic 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the White House just announced.
The President will be traveling to several different New Orleans neighborhoods with Mayor Landrieu and meeting with residents, many of whom are still rebuilding their lives.
FEMA officials and Craig Fugate (successfully coordinated most of the $120 billion in federal Katrina assistance), will also be joining the President and the Mayor to speak about the city’s new resilience strategy.
Small Business Administration officials will be participating in events throughout the city to teach about small business preparedness efforts and lessons learned from the hurricane, and the aftermath.
