The Summerville Orchestra, under the direction of Wojciech Milewski, has been named the winner of The American Prize in Orchestral Performance in the community division for 2023. Chosen from a pool of nationwide applicants, the Summerville Orchestra stands out in this prestigious competition.
According to the American Prize’s website, “The Prize recognizes and rewards the best achievement in the unique field of orchestral programming, where the selection of repertoire by knowledgeable, creative and courageous music directors builds orchestras and audiences, educates young people and adults, and enriches the community.”
The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is a significant series of national contests across various performing arts disciplines. It stands out for its broad scope and structure, aimed at acknowledging and honoring top talent in the United States, including artists, directors, ensembles, and composers at professional, college, community, and high school levels. These awards are based on submitted recordings.
