Another local Charlotte business has just received a top national award. The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery was just voted first place in the nation for having the best brewery tours. It even beat out much larger breweries, including; Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Budweiser. The contest was created by USA Today and 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
They published a national survey, which asked weekly readers to pick their favorite in each category such as food, lodging or destinations.
For the best brewery tour, out of 3,000 total breweries in America, a list of 20 finalist were decided on, then whittled down to the top 10 for the final round.
The voting was focused on “beer tours to remember,” including the spots where visitors saw vivid demonstrations of production in action and experienced wide selections of samples.
Olde Mecklenburg dominated over Magic Hat Brewing Co. of Burlington, Vt., which came in second. The other 5 top spots in order were New Belgium Brewing Co., Susquehanna Brewing Co. and Samuel Adams.
Charlotte is now becoming a national hub for quality craft breweries, especially after the recent first place victory for NoDa Brewing Co at the World Beer Cup.
