Chilling Discovery on Johns Island: Vehicle with Deceased Passenger Found Underwater


In a gripping turn of events on Johns Island, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office revealed on Monday that 61-year-old Charleston resident David Therien was discovered lifeless inside a vehicle immersed underwater.

He was officially declared deceased in the early hours of Saturday, around 1:23 a.m.

According to an official press release from the Charleston County Sherriff’s Department:

“Deputies responded shortly about 7 p.m. Friday to Turtle Marsh Lane near Great Egret Drive to a report of tire tracks leading to a pond. Dive teams searched the pond and confirmed the presence of a vehicle with a deceased subject inside. Crews recovered the vehicle. CCSO’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating the death as a traffic fatality. It marks the 13th traffic fatality investigated this year by CCSO.”
